Punjabi Aloo Wadi /Moong Dal Nuggets with Potato

06:04

Aloo Wadi/Vadi is a popular Punjabi dish made from Potatoes and Dal Wadi. Dal Wadi is Nuggets of Moong Dal, Chana Dal or Urad Dal mixed with spices. It's everyone favourite in Punjab and usually accompanied with Chapati, Naan or Paratha. This is a simple yet flavorful curry which I often prepare at my place. The spices give a wonderful aroma and colour to the curry. So let's start the recipe.

Ingredients:
1 cup moong dal Vadi(Split Green gram nuggets)
2 potatoes, sliced
2 onions, grated
6 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoon ginger, grated
2 tomatoes, chopped
4 green chillies, chopped
1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
Spices
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 teaspoon kasori methi,dried methi
2 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon red chilly powder
1 teaspoon Kashmiri masala
4 tablespoon vegetable oil
Water as required

Method:
Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Fry the dal wadis and keep aside. Add asafetida and cumin seeds.
Add kasori methi garlic and ginger. Sauté for 2-3 minutes and add onion.
Add fried vadis and stir in for 5 minutes.
Now add the potatoes, mix well and sauté on low heat for 5 minutes.
Add chopped tomatoes and chillies and cook till oil comes out from the edges.
Now add 4-6 cups of water. Cover the lid and cook it for 3-4 whistles.

Open the lid and garnish coriander leaves.
Serve it hot with chapati, pulka or naan.

Serve-3 Cooking time- 40 minutes
Note: Likewise you may prepare all type of Vadi's.
